thank you Lord Greensburg lower school how many beers from a run and will then have another your children teachers in the classroom before that I just want to share a little spot that ties into these days before Russian I'm not and its oceans experience here the lower school in his work and I'll text you back rub them they shake sabella's and number just our experiences over Rosh Hashanah and Yom is that contact the rough raises the question about the video of the confession that we say over young people as part of our silence Luna X-ray and then we were meeting again with the Huns eyes as hard as of his repetition of the Schwinn however say it in the same way in our final you would not fix the wrong Outback what saved danger character the we approach God on these days into accidents as individuals and it's part of Arthur as individuals you have heard of side effects we need God to take us back as part of the Jewish people we always have vodka never be taken away and it's part of skin decoration from that perspective we are not this aspect of looking at your children as individuals and as part of a large broccoli and then I'll work with your juicer set an alarm each teacher has his or her needs his or her strength his or her tail each child needs and deserves in wish her the best way forward is burning at the same time we set goals and the lower school community are the games for the prior year and he said the new standards of excellence going forward the blending of this movement forward assist what the individual attention each of your children is the challenge and opportunity we set for ourselves and what we look forward to in that allow me to introduce our wonderful catch speaker for this evening this is Leah track Leopold of BS from behind University a master's degree in curriculum for diversity Wishing Well store it has been a principal and and she was also our superintendent life with MacKenzie. Leah was call Rick Young Explain how and why he was in Essence Atkins how to get Minister and more importantly how it helps your childbirth without further Ado I prevent to you share a little bit about this assessment old with you um I was laughing teacher at the high school level in Southeastern Ohio moved to Dayton area with an offer to do a PhD in their second year of a Ph.D program I did not finish the PHD because the going to go back go back when was because the gentleman that I had my eye on was all Ramirez once that point I was offered a job in Sandusky Ohio on he was offered a position building an area married everything and send us a circle July to make sure everything was good this part of the state I was in Bedford for 15 years past 10 years as a building press cool and the three four five six world three and six came and went as we open and close and then I spent 5 years director of the elementary level and did all their testing for Navy and work with their testing assessment and I'm spent the past this is my fourth year now look at Cuyahoga County ESC in prison consultant my husband died last week has to I'm a freshman 7th grader we have a 6th grader and the other precious little one who is in first grade and she's running it she is in charge of first grade so all of them involved also map testing also at the building proper since 2004 I use this tool as a principal and worked with my teachers and used it with children so I found you not just to share something with you I do not work for this how many nothing to do with this company I absolutely love this book and I do believe that it made a difference for the children that I had in my care I'm at has no key has here it made a difference and that's why I love the whole time it now with differences in other school districts that have adopted this program and she's again nwea is a camellia on the West Coast they've been around for 40 years during 140 different countries I'm at the not-for-profit industry that works on making test question test assessment there are states in the United States are already moving to adopted and this company has their success as their state tool for public education so if it's been around for a long time it has tens of thousands of Banks question by the number to Sisson Papa if you're interested in number 7000 + Partners 50 states we have 130 countries going over there a million students test annually and that was back in your 2012-13 I kind of borrowed back from their presentation and they're still if it's if you are it's not just something in Ohio is not just something in our area it's all over the place for building test questions so there is definitely enough room for stretch and enough crying in their questions so the tool that they use measure of academic progress and making an ass of the assessment that we're talking about here today it is a computer program and adaptive program so the first time you're trying to talk to text whatever Disturbed greatest example right now I third grader walks in on the first day of school as a third grader somewhere in that beginning part of school they take this assessment the very first question coming out of the Chute is a typical academic question if you're taking the math test they're taking the language arts reading test in that subject bacon at what the computer gives another question at that grave they get it rough the bar room stuff so don't ask a question that might be a little bit more difficult they did it run and in those first five to seven questions the computer it's Mark I believe it cuz I was texting the that it gets the child to a level so yeah it's a child earned a wrong or incorrect answer to the level of time called he went down at that point the child for sent a text and we'll talk about that if we go on but I want you to that was the birth of the child taking the death and whatever Greg Neville they were young when the child for their first test they take it again in the winter and they take it again in this printer picks up where they left off so we can go up and down with time was content with a bad day with a good day with anything else is going on with it at the end of that school year get rest is just in the computer data has never been lost again I've been in the district used it for from 2004 till 3 years ago never wants a child's death never lost anything happened that near the kitchen fan be coming to 4th grade why were they left off at the end so we can see a little dip for summer I have not been reading a lot during the summer red rose Michael Wacha the same thing with Ermac are we start again that year we move on that's what we're talking about what you said was so it's measuring Josh your child against your child and cancer for work and ability it has if there's a frequency of assessment the student it is again it's okay here is there are tens and tens of thousands of questions the child is working with his or her own group of I thinking for work and it covers know if there's enough schools Nomad when we started in 2004 orange and perfumes and set up a floor one that you only school districts in this area use this assessment at that point to what Ohio was expecting us to teach in our contact there are now Six 300 some school districts in a 600 some school is going Ohio 370Z and the test is a line and correlated to the Ohio State assistance yes I was you all are not taking the state Assessments in the Springs at the neighboring Schools public school system super still going to be moving out into the and be working beside those children going to college with those children so this is Desmet will kind of even though you don't do this public schools that but I will show you before we're finished that you can see where your child would fare against all things in order here and also where they would fare with their venturing into college act this is correlated to death I can tell you again for my own experience, often it was because of money Board of Education saying we need to cut something and is this something we need as soon as superintendent paint me a couple times in my time in the school district and said Leah we needed it and you need to give me something because we're put you up I'm so I would gather our data I went down at that time to BSD to breath and then okay teach me how to do some kind of statistical something because I have to do a correlation I have to be able to show I know it's it's my basement I color on paper I put them there stage horse down I put their of maxxforce down and I see it I feel it I know it I know but I can't do that that they're not to listen to me I need something that outside of me so we LG insufflations I was coming up year after year 8.7 - .8 + correlation between this assessment and the status of those who didn't know statistics when it's a I was almost there with a building of over 500 children all taking tests so again the correlation is there on the upon the assessment the other piece Direction going to take it the child can be in third grade after an eighth grade questions if that's what they are academically and hatred child who strongly in the concept for the answer the 4th grade question so kids will take them up and down as they need to pending what continent and we're talking about so you can do that the number so when you swing your teachers will talk to you about this test recessive Rick I hate it stand for what does Masher flashing for instruction in teaching party what does that mean George Rush was the psycho he came up on the cycle metric unit that is just measuring something that would be the ideal right now in the next couple of slides I just don't to show you this is red don't don't say right see what they're doing there you see that there's a test question now attached to it this is where we were going to go so what is your rate when you have children you took your babies I want to talk to look at your baby at 3 months or 6 months already year the doctor gave you a piece of paper that has some limes one on it and then share it with you and said your your child is in the percentile for weight and the 80th percentile for height you had an average weight baby would come home you love Jermaine is matter to you as long as the baby was healthy if he was a little taller than the average kid that really didn't matter dad was very tall if you took your baby in and they said the babies at the alien percentile for weight and the 25th percentile for pull up and dance really use love that baby when you went back in 6 months the baby was still at the 80th percentile maybe for Wednesday wrong with the alien percentile height and they they stretched and it's all work is alright think of it that way I spy twice when I work with schools and teachers on my goal kid hung up on trying to understand and number it's a measurement they comes in increments of 10 it's no different than looking at child say you're here and you're here and you're over here and we're all fun facts exact the pointer but it has just a minute and as I go for tonight again we'll talk about how its measure but the questions have regular the questions are all more 1.1 they take them and then the children come out with the score in the end but again a 10-point game for most high to your child but more important link to the content working on that's a good one right there I saw its adapter tile the issue here is that the child is going against the child we're not competing against the school district as well we're not competing against the school district what are working individual child and looking at what age child need and how can each tile row and half we maximize their ability level that's what this is the best it's so you're only looking at yourself in this case when I meet that I work with teachers to unpack the dad and I'm packing sessum you know I tell them that you'll feel most critical point here if you should not be stressed out that's when I did it in my in my building my own kids what are home District I know the moment tell me where Matthew tomorrow an i in service to my home District when they bought this product but I'm right down the road so we got a big thing we don't talk about this is a test this isn't a 90 7060 this is a tool we're going to have to and then your teachers are going to use that to help you the best you can be rag outfit was always a Peppa and it was stopping to stress his hat and when they're doing it that way there's no Kim there's no stress level there was nobody being upset no one was crying nobody was all worked up over because it was we didn't make it underneath your all over my fingers crossed we're all saying stuff and you're watching Kirkland but to the children it's a pool that's how we presented and then they don't worry about it every child is a different tax so we don't have to worry about oh my gosh know what they did that because it's all legitimate it is not a teacher's made test again I'm not thinking to Manchester not do it I'm not I'm not saying book test or not good but then takes you outside of this he takes you outside of this safe if put you across the nation and if in an assessment that any kid can take and how will they fare on that tool the nicest piece of that this for the immediate results I had teachers and I'm sure you will have the here to that and you're taking the test we tell children when you're finished just in type in touch any because I watch teachers go behind his computers and their write down the numbers they won't they can't wait till tomorrow if you don't do that shut down the computer tonight tomorrow morning you come yet as a score and within the trim so if there's no scoring there's nothing that you have to there's no room for air for you Edison and it's all again meaning that they take them tens of thousands of children who killed the testing look at what they scored they looked at how much they grew and they said marks on boy getting his not just a local world piled up Assessor so you can hang out yourself which is right goal-setter we work with our children and that's when we safe if your aunt gets you against you at the child has the tough who would meet for older children in particular that great going to get age of from all this has to be age-appropriate how I will talk to a 5th grader is not how I will talk to a person there's just but I was only with a great class and the teacher will be painting with the children conferencing with the children and saying to them this is how much time you spend on the test I need to spend 10 more minutes this time then we're done practicing time management the classroom you understand that halfway point oh how much time that thing I won't tell you that remember when I looked on the classrooms we've got to do that you had a good score in the in the fall they so what the year we might try to get by 12 104.2 let's go for 6 on this one what's my go for 7 on this weekend the children they was set and they was no when is the test they had their numbers I had with the variety some of them had had multiple testing and they have all their test scores identify we put on the freshest watch the children just did on their own and what teacher said in that every child worked to meet beat it beat it we can do it we can do it and then they would cheer each other on I worked it out him at school 271 Andover little bit here last year they've been using the they never did that they never did what's the time for a happy day before they took the test and I met with them as they took the test and went to the data and then they met with the students before they took the test they work with them and they did that and one of the buildings in particulars for elementary golden to the district want to go into the particular really Embrace and they really went live yes we're going to do it on their state test the year before say that the mall 87% of their kids passed everything I'm in a PT session this year in June and my phone is like Vita I think something happened somebody and I keep a Sci-Fi text that I could just a second cuz I'm I have to do this because something might be wrong. This is not something somebody would do I'm like you have to call me right away 100% of the fourth graders pastors test in social studies and every other test in his building was a 95% packaging artist they did not change teacher say that change children they change their focus on helping kids so you got high performance to high performance I worked in another District that direction and struggling District making add this hard-working Esposito we worked on this game as best we could with the ability of them any of them tools that look there to work with I think double their scores from last year they still have no standards but the growth in those children was huge so you get the tool can be adapted to whatever the name can be but Playskool and conferencing with the children goal setting looking at what the strengths and weaknesses are of the child and of the group will healthier teachers in the extended building better serve the children and and they're all waiting for the better on the children as an individual life even more than I know that they're already going from what we talked about and again there's a connection that runs all the way up in this program so starting is great you could see what the projected score what your child in college act Atkinson so if it does protect out in a longer range for you so here's a serious Buyer six things here you can use this assessment for services so if we have to I especially we would have to identify child gift if we can use this fold and actually get approved by the state of Ohio for both of them we can do it for acceleration cases we would be able to look at and the end of the middle school where would we be placing students which students will be better prepared to move on to high school algebra for example versus assume you just needs to be in regular school benchmarking just looking to make sure the art courses are where they're supposed to be as compared to everyone else around them so we can use it for that we can measure growth over time which is really really big huge pieces I like about the process we can do it actually places the children in little plump within standard the teachers can take them from those clothes and take them right to contact and intervene or extend in the teaching and learning process we can do that we're ready to season 2 so how do I make a difference for that research will tell us that children really do well when they know what they need to do I'll admit with you when I work with I talked to Devin and all of us just want if you've done anything in college if you don't I will have time master's program when I walked in on the first day the teacher gave me a piece of paper and it said if you want an a what's that you want this is what you need to do and hear the date you turn it in your cares what I'm expecting if you want to be here's what you do here's how you do it wedding Jordan you want to see you might want to think about whether you want to be here it's kind of young babies paper there was no guessing if you turned in this this this this and this one of these days and a quality you know you're going to get it would break so there was a piss test with while mailpac there maybe I won't he was clear and if you were motivated to get that score what did you Huber Rick what we get that cool so basically that translates down all the way down to our very babies are kindergarten or first-grade if you tell them what they need to do and you're telling them why they were wise to data I should because the teacher in this building is their parent local Brenton if they're there any o you who teach them to love their teacher and to then become Pleasers they do this at home for Dixon want you to be happy with what they do so tell what he needs to do I know I know I know but you know they do one structures they do want some how do you have know what it is it's expected call Sunrise medication they have ownership once you establish that the teacher starts to teach and the learning process begin and what math will tell you assistant it never ends when you collect data we world of chapter reviews are formative assessment sore thumbs up this work teaching and we start again and we reassess when we reassess me mega Target now we talked was retarded hyena Target to love one we need to do we readjust the tar are you going to be doing our life in general we all are here because we have worked really hard and we continue to tell him herself we can't you need to keep going so that we can be where we are today not saying that this does for children Houston begin that process of state of Targets in moving on Research supports it they actually off of the teachers sample horse so I have disrespect work with that are using this app I have districts and I'm telling you they do it on an index card they don't know anything fancy than meet with the kids and they do it they have iPads or monitors I had a math lesson come after a couple years this anymore the kids chart we're at however it is but ownership of children having that it there's no surprises and no see this is a normal assessment and I threw this damn because I mean I I I a lot of places that when we can bomb assessment we think ABC North Burnett is that this test aims to put most of the children in the center of the Bell State Park Headmaster this test doesn't give you is not looking for a child to get a 99% and equate that to him pay its give me any news course that's looking at you and balancing you out with a larger part of the world so yes I would want my own personal child to be on this side of the belt I have one axon and I have two more coming in right around and over here I'm okay with that why because my kids were able to compete with anybody as long as I can in that section the top of the curb and the bottom of the car is where we can get a little bit more concerned about what's happening for the bottom of her we have a crop if we're the top bear and Papa then we need to talk about where we're going and how was service exact child because as much as this one as challenge that one has challenges to so as we look at this and look at this assessment your kid can move on this tool from here to hear the pain you on a testing session back to here and back to here we don't as long as they are in that in that Central that curve what I'm telling you and we always aim to that for the tacos. your child is doing well and what we're looking at is competing against everyone in the country I didn't look at that statistically you want your child meet me in competition and in the middle so I can't get snow on an ABC test it's not a Army 8760 test and when you're looking at your parent report down the road its percentile which is not percentage so when it's a percentile and you just thinking of it again I mean I don't know how many in your are strong with now is why you made I had to I had to get it through my head if you line up a hundred people percentile me that if I'm at 74 I've done better than 73 people it doesn't mean I got 74% of the test correct it means in competition with the line of children or line of people 400 I am above 73 if I'm at the 50th percentile is better than me lights on this app but they're not better than you better than me on this assessment and a half and half the time better than hassas that's what it be so this test is again not to do that and Norm your children again everyone do I take you to a cup look like now I just had to share with you what you're going to be looking at one who I see in the numbers on these lies and what will you see if actually as your children for the progressive down there is a sample math and it's a simple I pulled a sample that could show you that the child testing the fall of 60 the flavor 17 the spring was 17 and again now just this fall so I have for data point the blue you'll get to see is your child the yellow is the nor with the country that there is what what would be the average of if kids were taking this what's the average score at this grade level in the officiant so this child is 9 points above what would be average in the country so they're Hannah Center the bell-shaped curve into that positive side very good rap what I came to the country went up a wife and your child went up YouTube when it came to the spring the state or the country went up not as much you child that's perfect that's an ideal that you like to see I don't care if the lines are down here or the lines are up there we see a child that through Straight Up the Ladder as the year progressed now we have a child come back in the and take the test they went back once one point I don't have a problem with that is educated talking that we're talking summer I am certain that every child in this room wasn't sitting everyday is life office completing a chapter I'm happy with that one or two point summer slide this song look what happened also alcohol the devil against my child's holding their working fine what you will see two then he is getting this ring of 18 this child is start for the 211 and this year at 2:22 and that's perfect okay I haven't talked percentile I'm just talking looking at the numbers see the numbers of the child packing for getting on there for going steadily up so I like to please 11 points my conversation with this child will be five or six points this winter 5 or 6:20 this spring and I have a Year's worth of growth on this time now I want you to walk that here because this also gives me information how to break into savings to get an equal number of questions in the form asks this child came out High average in algebra this child came out high in measurement send data this child came out high and numbers and operations and this child came out average in junk now I have anyone who attacked by an I want to hear the three dimensional world I don't mean to offend you but that's wonderful because if you're looking at the child and the mathematical progression geometry is the least important test will the child have to deal the other thing that we have never get doctors the bearer of the nude in junior high if you're following a state contact Andrew and now I can't tell you when I tell me now. What does grade level has actually not one piece of geometry in it at all when they hit their freshman year in most of our high school that has absolutely no geometry Kenneth at all and then age-appropriate and hopefully I can see the dimensions and the figure we played all of the eggs in our Basket in our mathematics world in the state of Ohio 2nd year High School in junk so as I'm looking at this I'm saying to myself and I know I don't know right now I knew when I pulled this what Raven what was and that's why I did it so I could use this with a geometry when we were at when we're at his grade level the gray BB for has minimal geometry in their content standards with minimal geometry their contacts what I want and for my child in for your child in this report right here I tell every District I work with number sense and numbers operation have to be the highest achieving masstran k-25 is your child kicked out on this assessment if they know number sense once they can visually understand the the dimensions find the pieces of hearts and the formulas and the length times height times base length times width is this as long as that and they can see it and they can watch HGTV when they pop up those houses at those rooms I still looking like this lessons why can't you see it I might know I'm sorry I can't do that some people don't get them okay some people don't get there just no other way to put that food but if they don't get the number sense peace and they don't so when you're adding numbers are getting bigger and when your subtracting you're starting with big he should have an answer that's smaller if they don't understand how many zeros come after the decimal point if they don't understand how to do percentage if they don't put that pausa, shopping we're talking about time cards we're talking about paycheck or talking about being able to be Engineers were talking about being able to be doctors being able to be pharmacist they have to know how to count they have to understand how to divide quite add and subtract That's the basis of number that so I tell all my goings I work with all the teachers I work with when you tear this apart and I'm telling you as parents when you get your report what you want to see is that you're chill the highest they can get on this assessment number 7 and then everything else will fall into place after how to draw operation for our kindergarten first grade second grade students the answer is not traditionally after Giza so an example for a first way question on natural being there are some birds in the tree five more birds and now there are play for the new tree how many birds have in a problem gets blank + 5 equals 8 hit the beginning steps of kids having to manipulate their mind and either some to get that first answer or count up from 5 to get that for Desert what is the strategy that were working with the fill in the X there's no X at this point but down in the beginning steps of algebra from Cayman 1 and 2 building that I know within problems and they can see that too I always say that one should be my second most important area when we're looking at Matt and we're looking for when we break it down into the forest ring measurement and data coming into 5th grade and in the sixth grade changes to statistics and basically down is what we do and what we should be using so I can let me let me die per second you been talking about math and reading but in starting in fourth grade and moving up in science and social studies economics in social studies is one what we have two children throughout the unit for social studies so we start out the beginning with Once in these there's a blind the band would ask me move into 4th grade 5th grade and 6th grade we really start talking about Productions and and numbers and exports and imports we start talking about percentages so what I tell my social science teachers is what you're looking at this report you're looking at BOCES Canada as a freckle / unit understand the number process and then come down here and look at their measurement and Dad because they have to read charts and graphs in social site they have to know how to Paws in those numbers over the science curriculum and the fifth grade social studies or science test rather is filled with charts and graphs Silva Trucking rest so I share something with you I have a son this point you play right now absolutely hate is not going to qualify for special education services I read everything to me when they read novels in school and they have to do book I degrading they turn all the times we read the book of heads on one whole time through and then he goes to school and he reads section-by-section with his teacher and I come home and we really get I'm exhausted by the time I finish with this job because he just is it but you can't do it he can get any walls without that's why that's problem we're starting to come in I saw the looks earlier he's coming in the middle school that 6th grade page just like so I've been pushing this time on he is but he's mathematics there's no fight with his math homework he's on Target and Beyond with Matt he can sit there and take numbers like couple years ago 300 something plus 800 something is Isaac and he will tell him to me after what CiCi's Pizza number the last race of the sunset they tell you straight up I don't believe that he could read everything it was on that I don't like it doesn't count for anything thanks Mike. Just letting you know I'm working really hard he's working really hard he know what if he doesn't pass all these tests I can't help that it's not for lack of us all working together and all time he passed the science test test at home Olson advanced level on and I say that to you because math and we got our parent report it broken down to three stanza science branch of science that was tested he came out right in the middle on to his bubble wasn't high as a PDF on the third strand Shred-it house all the mathematical sings all the guys all the charts all the Bratz all the numbers he blew that through and about those nearly an accelerated school so I will a kid who struggles with reading has another gift and they can make a huge difference in a score on an assessment based on that strength his teacher is pushing the math we did not at home because we were were we continue to do that so I say to you when I tell people about measurement and data on this report science teachers and social science teachers need to be looking at this because there is children can become a Cana this is where he could do something in that field of science down the road and we need an Advil or agreed that. Because don't like it and it will be important to you so again Pierce just Avenues from here that I can see things I can tell you as you work with Kaufman and your weaknesses and Continental the end of school year until we get in the upper brace can you really move to that point so this is what I see when I looking at the report that's what you'll see if you get your report this isn't as a look at something similar this County that the Child's Garden testing a third-rate when divorce 199 2:08 to 12 to 11 the projected growth last year was 12 your style May 13th this is why I tell you what fluctuate so the child start out the 74th percentile on top of the 77 drop down to 73rd went back up to 75th what am I going to tell me you got child what's around the 70th percentile and celebrate because again if you're looking at a hundred children he's he or she is at the lines above 69 of those children somewhere in that ballpark going to fluctuate based on the numbers that they get over here add I have a suggestion that just because a good grade math teachers that are at Leah so are you telling me that Rick is more important this is the rent or are you telling me for Christmas one but I'm telling you depends on if I'm looking at a child I'm in one as an instructor and as a parent depending upon where his number started at I might just want to see numbers going up if I'm looking at another bigger child where I'm trying to aim for something else for another place with another world another achievement level of sometime I might be wanting to look at this and make sure this is going straight up so you have to take each of the children that have in front of you and you can you need to look at Mike first my first advice to all of you is to look at system that's my first advice football your children have to get used to this your teachers are going to work on t is there as long as a child in the end is going up that's what you want that is what this assessment showing you and telling you that that's rough so I just all your show you that shows a different base I hear the child that's going off Flatline from Winter just to spray was supposed to make 10.6 points they went up 6 points in the beginning of year to the end of the year depending on who this child is I'm not complaining they came back at the beginning of the year and did some reading the back over the someone with me maybe went to a little bit of a boot camp summer camp for a week or something they held their own and came up again a couple more snacks from 197 203 they pretty much neither start the new year spaghetti look at these numbers and highlights kind of have to breed a little bit what happens here turn it down before you but came back up to the 60th so what am I going to say to you as you have Kinder know you have somewhere around a 50th percentile kit right smack-dab in the middle and right where you would want him to be in competition with the world rap Jacoby provenza okay stupid you you look at the numbers and you have to take them at times for just like what is the fall parking at but again what am I looking at here 191 short last year 203 to start this year we've got broke moving in that right direction for us academically here's another one at through this game so that I can show you the same thing here for reading 157 163 172 165 we have rain detecting that you and we have a goal now or 181 so what teachers will be looking at with your child here is his kid remember the computer doesn't know the child the computers turn from this year's first score in the 181 hi this is a conferencing for dependent on what their fourth or fifth grader how you talking to Sean saying you know what came out a17 lockdown how many points did you have and now I said you should go based on what you want to do how good you want to be this year you want to work with me really I think you can do that so I'm going to say instead of them 181 I want you to go to a 186 go to 186 okay so we're looking at you can go tell me why we go Channel 10 points 11 points in the Winter Texan not tell you what this isn't about a break so if you only makes them the right I'm still going to give you a high five play together till 11 so that we can show this at the end of year there's not a kid in this room it was saying and in the end we worked why where we think they would have been put a bit or Superman if they had held to a 172 that's how your teachers in the end in y okay what give the child celebrate hand reading starting 2nd grade in Reading you coming to three strings so big literature which is reading the the fiction the fairy tales the Cinderella stories in the end and information here comes my science and social size people back in the room again and they need to be involved in the nonfiction tell you that we see children with high and at hi hi Anna Louis and those are children they're starting to find their life in Reading and for whatever reason everyone in this room toward some type of a book to read whether that's mystery or science fiction or history and you all have a love that you even if you read verocious there's something that you like better than everything else that you read and children are starting to find themselves at this age here we have the chiefs both we expose them to both but single naturally show out in one area for another and see that on this test imma see what they can do with it the vocabulary section on here is just using certain vocabulary words that the teachers know each level are you straight level are appropriate vocabulary words so that gym in the K1 area you're talking about foundational skills so honest with me yet and I have a and apply here why is there a decline in second grade also the first grade test scores are rented against they put earplugs in Hair Plus in and if it listing test, second grade to have to read it on the wrong what's this child May has it did that was so bad I gave them before the 5th grade second grade level this is okay and I will have conversation because we took a childhood can swallowing which hotel reading completely by themselves and so they will grow and what I want you warmly see here is a pic is that that one Spanish I want to see the 181 and all normal okay because they're they're learning to read 2nd grade all the same one and K you're talking about a tional skills there for four pieces that you would get down here and I have measures there sounds there a recognition of alphabet their recommendation letters are blender rhyming words all of that for that teachers would know where to work with the children to get them to come and by time we first grade to be reading at at the level that they need to read alright so again here differences between first and second grade in the numbers I got nothing to worry about this 17th thru 15th for first grader that's fine up 2:35 down to 27th that that child potentially will be back up to 40 second grade books Goodreads then after that I could tell you were going to sit 40 50 60 what else I have seen kids real 40 just simply because they catch on the reading and they run with it you know I've seen other kids make 70 points that's what was expected of them so it just depends on how quickly they catch on to what is never get the Derby again starting in 5th grade so are you fifth grade the teachers can share with you I'll report that shows if you want the tiles up on this test Forsyth Hospital the Ohio state test the schools around you then come out of celery fantastic and if you're looking ahead if this child continues to work at the river that they're working at play sister working at and continues to picture of a focus on education they should come out with us 24 on the state Act okay now I don't I'm not follow them find far enough individual child far enough to do this but I can tell you this again on my phone numbers in my phone experience for 5 or 6 years this is holding very true I was in Geauga County last week at an elementary building and the sixth grade math teacher unbeknownst me comes up me again the dish that I really want you to look at something and then like what's that she met with me she asked me to stay after me tell time last year she really wanted her kids to do with and she was afraid that this is a new pool and just using it it wasn't going to work out and I'm like listen yet if you're fine it will be just pissed if you're a good teacher your scores have been good she had an 89% comparison exactly was this tested for sixth grade children we're going to do on the state test is exactly a 9% 400 so I guess it just and she didn't do I didn't ask him if I could do that it's just that I held her Administration didn't ask she just was that driven for her children to be successful and so she was able to prove that him believe yourself now watch this tool and know what my children are going to do with something else again here's an example of this is the same time same time Bangkok probably raining at the strength in math is not projected by what they did in Reading to get a good score on the ACT projected not even to make it with them at 4 past 4:25 parathyroid teacher I would be obviously working with some interventions that would work with his child on son supporting down helping them is this is very rude so I can have can have a child does one is much better than the other what have you so you can't just go and get it that's okay and just who the child he is on this is a sample of a fourth grader and their test for has 203 there within a 3.6 48 minutes to talk about time but that's perfect and it tells you also on the parent report that they would benefit with a little bit more focus in Geometry if this was now and you're good important in the fall here that's fine because we haven't Connie geometry yet we are or we're focusing KFI on number sense geometry doesn't worry me if that's all the tile I have that the school so come getting this report in the spring should not be a phone you can have access to reports that look like this at the parent that show the child coming back what does that long I don't know exactly what that mean I'm going to say that your child is right in here and for some reason was pop something I mean did they read something for carefully did they solve a couple of times if you don't have all the answers what about you can see that the child or the child going you can see where the typical group is going on and you can see where the child should be if everything stays the same by Mandy rich with report since I bought a minor there are teachers get a ton more reports than what you're seeing here I love this one is what you want more than child be growing and above the 15%. That's what this is showing me of the average kids and this is going and I'm right straight up so again these are easy easy to read easy to access what other questions would you have you should ask the teachers about lunchtime and child so, task 34 mile time to get this for that they got and I just want to quickly show you I pulled format in 3rd 4th and 5th grade the numbers between 200 and 220 so I didn't want to be specific cuz I kinda want we're out of Time cast not working out for you but you're for me so what your teacher is going to feel they will have access to its content and take them right to where they need to be so this is child that the tooth between 2:01 and 2:10 this is what the child knows this is what the child could be working on and this is what the child might still need some work on as be here for breakfast what is that way for every 10 point statement I just have to pull you up this would be a 50% I'll get somewhere between 3rd 4th and 5th grade so they can add to get the numbers together that can say I understand they start to subtract whole numbers within a thousand with regrouping over there any of the three more and getting the sun's under greater it just gets spelled it straight out and if you go on Bove website it's spelled it right at it we connected so your children are his fine shape with doing the content worked at the state of Ohio is asking all children to understand why you can see the different back of there by the end of 4th grade the multiplication coming Beacon holding the numbers multiplying 2 digit multiply 3 coming on with that so your teachers having nice scripted content to take the ride over to what kids do we do if I have a child with a little bit lower than we go to bed and we work through where the weaknesses are if I have a child at scoring outstanding then I have to look at where I can push that tile and I can go original Rick and just keep going over this up there what did Walter 230 and what is it that I can push that child food so teachers can feel their differentiating through Friday from elegant just been cold and gets get the complex it continues to grow with the children and can can use to work with that if coherent progression for you you can see what the children are doing no data is ever lost and so as long as you continue to want to this assessment here you will have one Eternal data that you WorkOne in look at your truck that's
