Dear Lower School Parents,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you are enjoying the summer. I am so looking forward to welcoming your children back to school in just a few short weeks.

II. Lice Checks:
This year, lice checks will take place during the first two days of school.
III. Lower School FAQ's
What is the dress code?
Kippot and tzitzit should be worn at all times. Baseball caps are not permitted.
Shirts or t- shirts should have sleeves ( no tank tops etc.), and should have appropriate designs, pictures or logos. In First Grade shorts and sweat pants are permitted. From Second Grade, boys should wear slacks or jeans.
Skirts should be to the knees
Shirts or t- shirts should have an appropriate neckline and sleeves (no cap sleeved, tank tops etc.). and they should be long enough to cover the body while running around. They may have appropriate designs, pictures or logos.
Can my child bring electronics to school?
While we recognize that many children like to play video games during the bus ride, lower school students are not permitted to play electronic games ( including cell phones, iPods etc.) during the school day.
I would like to celebrate my child’s birthday in school, what should I do?
Please contact one of your child’s teachers to make arrangements and a special snack can be brought in. All food should be packaged with an appropriate kosher certification or purchased from one of the local kosher establishments.
With regard to out of school birthday parties, we encourage parents to invite either 2-3 children, the entire class or all of one gender to birthday parties.
What is the Lower School’s dismissal policy?
Parents needs to fill out a dismissal and emergency forms (click here for the emergency form, click here for the dismissal form that were sent out earlier). For the children's safety, we will accept changes to the instructions on the dismissal form only until 1:00 P.M. on any given day. Of course, if there is an emergency, you may always call the office and we will assist you. We will also not accept student’s relaying dismissal messages- please call the office directly.
When will I receive report cards?
Report cards are distributed in January and June, at the conclusion of each semester. This spacing is designed to insure that you are receiving an official progress update throughout the year.
What can I send for lunch?
This year, all lunches that are sent to school should be Dairy or Pareve. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding the dairy and pareve lunches. Please include drinks for lunch as well as snacks for the morning and afternoon recess. Please do not send in any foods that needs hot water (i.e. instant soups etc.).
I am concerned about my child, who should I call?
PLEASE call us! Your child's teacher wants to hear your concerns and questions. Also, please feel comfortable to call Malkie Ginsburg any time.
IV. First Grade Parents
Dear First Grade Parents,
The 1st grade team is getting ready for a wonderful year of learning and growth for your children. We are looking forward to our "Welcome To First Grade Orientation and Supply Drop Off" on Thursday, August 24th from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM. Please come directly to Room 147 for supply drop off. You and your child will have an opportunity to visit all the 1st Grade classrooms as well. Stay tuned for more information regarding orientation.
