Rabbi Jablon’s 6th Grade Seminar
www.fuchsmizrachi.org/6thgradeseminar.htm
This is a unique learning experience that will challenge your reading, writing, creativity and THINKING.
Our seminar meets twice per week. However, a lot of what we will be doing can (and should) be done independently (including on-line). Therefore, you will always have something to do. In addition, Mrs. Hodgkinson may ask you to work on projects for me if you have completed your work for her.
You will always need (in school, even on days we don’t meet) your “response journal.” This is where you will do a lot of your writing, as it will give you a record of your work (and of my comments to you).
There are various parts planned* for the seminar…..
*- planned= a nice way of saying this is subject to change!
Trimester One:
1) Summer Reading: You have read the book Akiva. Your first assignment will be to answer some questions and to write your own story. You can find the assignment at www.fuchsmizrachi.org/Akivabook.htm .
2) Web Quest- Masada or Yavneh: This is an intense, mostly on line experience. You will find it at www.fuchsmizrachi.org/MasadaorYavneh.htm
Trimester Two:
1) Term Paper: You knew there’d be one! But relax (a bit)…Mrs. Hodgkinson won’t be assigning one to your group. The term paper will be about the history of Chanukkah. This is also a largely on-line experience. You’ll find it at www.fuchsmizrachi.org/Chanukkahwebrsearch.htm
2) Current Events: Often I will give you an article to read and then ask you to respond to a question in your response journal.
Trimester Three:
1) Web Quest- Back to Hevron: This is an intense, mostly on line experience. You will find it at www.fuchsmizrachi.org/Hebronwebquest.htm
2) Current Events: Often I will give you an article to read and then ask you to respond to a question in your response journal.
